Meetings Galore

yesterday, I met with

10 - Jason Loewith of NEXT
2 - Sandy Shinner and Aaron Carter - Victory Gardens
4 - Russ Tuttero at Chicago Dramatists

Sadly, I was not able to get to see Martha Lavey or Bob Falls this go round - though I am grateful I got to see CRUCIBLE and PASSION PLAY, and meet with their staff (Ed Sobel and Steve Scottt, respectively).

Chicago

I am truly loving this town and have had a great time while here.

Tonight I plan to see PASSION PLAY by Sarah Ruhl directed by Mark Wing-Davey.

I saw it my first weekend here, and while I think it is problematic, it's exciting to see the scale of this beast. Three acts, a huge cast, and a lot of set stuff flying in and out; and a lot of large fish (puppets?) on the stage. Can you beat that?

TCG wise: I have had several meetings already

Ed Sobel - at Steppenwolf
David Catlin - at Lookingglass
Charlie Newell - Court Theatre
Steve Scott (Tanya Palmer) Goodman
Heidi Stillman - Lookingglass
Jason Wells - Playwright

What and where else? Plan to meet with Greg Allen (neofuturists); Marisa (playwright - butcher of barraboo); Frank Maugeri (redmoon); the folks at Victory Gardens; Jason Loewith (Next); Russ Tottero (Chicago Dramatists);

Also, seeing Aristocrats (Straw Dog); The Sparrow (The House); possibly seeing the neo-futurists. Hope to meet or at least speak to Eric Rosen who directed something at the Kirk Douglas.

No Child - Chicago Reviews

Some nice raves here. To be honest, I couldn't be happier...

"superbly performed and thoroughly gripping"
""No Child" is a must-see"

Chicago Sun-Times
"Nilaja Sun's bravura one-woman show"
"dazzling work of theater"

Chicago Reader: CRITIC'S CHOICE
"Sun delivers the tale with such economy, grace, power, and insight"

TimeOut Chicago
"breathtaking"
