Many happy returns
I return to juilliard in january to work on one of the new plays. This is the same slot as BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE was (two years ago). It'll rehearse nights and saturdays.
I don't know the cast yet nor which play it is. But I really enjoy working there and the kids are great.
I swung by the new school and had a nice wrap up with Bob Lupone. We're already looking at shows for next year. I liked being at the new school a great deal. Bums me out that I never applied to the westbeth. There's a 14 year waiting list..so, should they ever take new applications, there's a chance that I could get in there by 2022. Age 56. Gulp.

BURN THIS
Went with joe kraemer and carly mensch to see the fourth year students perform BURN THIS directed by pam mackinnon.
A terrific job by adam driver as pale. Got to see my old duo from BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE - Gabe and Jo. They were wondrous: I think they both have such promise - it'll be interesting to see where they land after this year.
Saw dylan moore from REBORNING and Zach also from BTC around the block from school, or thereabouts. I'll see them in brian mertes's final greek chapter in feb.

Slowest ride ever
I love new york so damn much. But its 2 am and I am craving my bed but am stuck on the slowest 2 train. Ipod died of low battery earlier so I am just biding my time. Looking at people. Was it hate comics that showed a fantasy of what life would be like if the world ended and we were all stuck with the people of the car? Kill me know.

Door is closed
Stage Door's final performance was saturday. It went well.
On some level I think Thursday night might have been the smoothest show technically and performatively, though I continued to see great growth, focus and play the last two nights. (I did not see the matinee - and apparently that was a good thing)
Tonight was a solid show. Act One was a little slow - but not like last night. The actors were clearly having fun - particularly big and little mary. Last night seemed to be olga's night. All of the piano lazzis really played (haha).
Jean made some nice leaps tonight. I could go on about each cast member - but there are 31! So that could take a while. In short, i think Terry really started to own playing the character of the best actress in the house. Her voice became much more confident - as did how she physically held herself. The scenes with kingsley and keith really landed. Kingsley really grew so much the past month - playing him as a kind of cary grant, classy guy.
To put the whole thing in perspective, I feel the students accomplished the objective: to apply what they've been learning in acting class to a (semi)-full production, playing roles in what is clearly a different style from what they're used to. And to enjoy it.
