Sundance end of week two

Its criminal how bad I've been about keeping up. Its tough to keep up blogging here for some reason - I think everyone is working so hard that its hard to find the usual time for self. Many folks are sleeping late - and working seven hours a day on new works.

I am happy where we are with ORIGIN STORY. I think we've bitten off a good amount to stage (approx one scene in its locale). Its definitely very stylized for us. How does one act a comic book? Or as if in one?

I told the harrison ford story. When y friend kirby worked on regarding henry, we went to the rap party and he introduced me to harrison. We were studying with mike nichols at the time and kirby mentioned we studied together. Harrison shook his head.

I said something like "I take you dont think highly of professional actor training, mr ford".

"You don't need it" he said. "Nah. They should teach you to make funny faces. You should go to funny face making school".

Now of course whenever I see harrison ford, I notice nothing but funny faces. (Regarding henry, star wars, blade runner, indiana jones. They're chock full).

I offered the story to the cast because they should feel completely free to act wildly with facemaking. As they say, we could always dial it back.

I think we got some really good, solid reviews for LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION. We're still hoping that the Times will republish...but so it goes.

Brooks "Cooks"

A piece in Variety came out yesterday. While I am a little uneasy with being pegged Mr. One-Man Man, I think it's a fairly clear assessment of the venture.

Also, a nice review of LIFE IN A MARITAL INSTITUTION came out last week in variety.

The Writer's lot

Its a sunny beautiful day here in utah and Dan is back at the house writing. An unenviable but necessary role for which we will all be grateful.

He's making some tremendous headway with the script. I am really impressed with how creative and fierce and dogged he is. A true talent.
Meanwhile, susie sokol and I got lost on a mountain. I suppose we could have lived on nuts and berries before eventually succombing to cannabilism.

Sunday at sundance

Just had a great brunch at the tree room here at the resort. Of course, its a beautiful wood room, with a tree in it.

Gearing up for a hike with a bunch of folks. Not sure why I have been designated the "leader" of this exhibition. But it should be fun to be with a bunch of theater folks in the wilderness.

Perhaps this is the perfect antidote to last night's karaoke party in which i was in the voyeur non-participant group. I've just told the folks at the mountain bike shop about our exploits should we get eaten by wolves.
