Stumbling through

That's precisely what we did on Saturday at 10:30 am. We took a look at all the work we've done in the past two weeks. I think the play looks precisely as I suspected it would, given how we've had to rehearse the past two weeks - sooo many conflicts it makes my head sping. The play looks well defined in some areas, messy in others. There is some good scene work, and some that is less defined. It seemed to me that the Captain/Lieutenant scenes were all in the best shape of everything. And all in all, everyone, particularly the family fuentes, have a good sense of who they are.

A stumble through is a great thing for me to do - to see where the play is halfway before we hit the theater. It's clear that I need to figure out: a) what to do with bodies b) to fully clarify entrances and exits (duh) c) and to make sense out of the women of the valley. The hardest part about group scenes seems to me to make sure that focus isn't being stolen, while at the same part making sure that the life is real and not merely surface.

I know stumbling through can be a scary proposition - but everyone seemed to take it in stride.

Today I'll be going through my notes, deciding what scenes to work on in the coming days. Looking forward to having
