My curtain call

Last night was performance #2 over there at the austrian cultural forum.

The first half of the program consisted of five songs by krenek. Two sung by ilana and three sung by chris nomura. Chris thanked three folks without whom: mrs. Krenek. Ilana who got the whole thing together, christoph thun who used to run the austrian cultural forum. He's been replaced by a guy named peter who recommended some austrian playwrights for me to check out.

The second half was the show. And I think it once again went over great. There is a lot of humor that they are all unearthing.

Gloria:
He might shoot you or me or himself.

Richard:
I wish he would start the other way around.

Hearing the word confidence over and over has gotten to me. I guess the premise - not having confidence - feels archaic. Nowadays we'd call it selfesteem. Or some such new agey notion.

Ilana's father - cantor charles davidson was there. He wrote the music to I NEVER SAW ANOTHER BUTTERFLY which is based on the poetry and paintings of the children of terezinstadt - the nazi camp. He's an amazing man and yesterday was his birthday. I've know him and ilana my whole life. So it was especially nice to see him there. He plans to send me a cd of the new musical he has written based on an ib singer short story.

After the performance, as is custom, the director joins the cast and set designer on stage for a bow. Oy. Ugh. Awful. What a horrific hazing. I prefer the anonymity of stage direction. Oy. Awful.
