Playing it in 3/4 has been a challenge to nilaja. She just hates to ever have her back to a single audience member. But there are 400 seats - and quite frankly - because it is a strangely configured place there are times where it will be unavoidable to block a few folks.
From my perspective, it seemed that the folks on house left were less reactive, reacting less. But they were completely attentive and I think incredibly focused. It may be that wherever I sit is wherre the reactions are, and that in the other spots its a bit quieter. But marc disagrees. He felt it was just as responsive where he was sitting.
Michael suenkel called a remarkable first show. He remains one of my favorite stage managers of all time. When I assisted tony taccone in 94 on caucasian chalk circle, he was psm. I remember how incredibly organized, precise, and focused he was. So great to be here. Also, nice to see will eno's TRAGEDY: A tragedy all over the place. Its one of my favorite plays and one that we did two readings of.
Now its off to san francisco for some HOUSE OF NANKING, city lights books, and vesuvios.
